Broadview Security Wants to Scare You

I had a whole rant ready about these awful, sensational, should be illegal, Broadview Security commercials. But thanks to the wonderful World Wide Web I found that someone had already said it much more eloquently than I would have.

For the Love of Snow

Just before Christmas, an enormous snowstorm loomed for the DC region. That Friday night we made a difficult decision. We would leave the city before the storm. Haha that worked out so well. We left the city at 6:30. It should have been plenty of time before the forecasted "bedtime" start of the storm.

A little while out of town, the traffic on I-95 slowed to a crawl. It took five and a half hours to reach the Northern Neck. The snow was coming down in sheets. When we pulled into our invisible driveway, I almost felt like I never wanted to see snow again.

And yet here we are just a few weeks later and I am fretting over every drop of precipitation that is not frozen. I missed the biggest storm we've had here in years and my snow-loving heart will not let me forget it.

Compounding my sorrow at each day without snow, we watch a lot of shows on the DVR. Unfortunately, sometimes I forget that they were previously recorded. So on a Friday night when the weatherman chirps, "Could we be in for snow tomorrow and Tuesday?" I begin to pant with desire until I realize he exists in the past and he was hyping a rain event that happened days ago.

So there is no snow photo to accompany this post. The dogs and I are just praying that we didn't miss our chance for snow.

Attack of the Asshat Spambot

Aaaaack! I just spent the last couple of hours deleting comment spam from my blog. It was a Google userid with a spam blog, with I guess more than a hundred spam comments posted on this blog, all the same string of Asian characters. I've learned my lesson and turned on comment verification (which I hate incidentally). When I can get my act together I will hire someone to move this whole enchilada over to a less spam-friendly blogging platform.

Oh, and if you happen to be one of my friends, family or any sane person who has stumbled upon this blog, how 'bout signing even the Anonymous posts (even just to give me a clue of who you are)? Because otherwise? I'll get a comment like this one:

And I will start thinking which of my crack-ass friends would write such a backhanded compliment. Thanks imaginary frenemy.
